Made Possible by Melbourne is a campaign out of creative agency McCann, Melbourne which focuses on the world-changing research taking place at the University of Melbourne, and it’s real-world impact.

Taking form as a public exhibition, the intention of the campaign was to bring the University’s research to life. Installation Artist and Production Designer Jackson Dickie was commissioned to conceptualise and create 14 individual installations within Melbourne CBD. Each installation incorporated models and interactive components specifically designed to enhance public engagement with the research stories.

Ending avoidable blindness in Indigenous Australians, growing greener cities and equipping robotic prosthetics with a human touch are just some of the research stories displayed, each demonstrating the breadth and impact of interdisciplinary research conducted at the University of Melbourne.

Each exhibit was also accompanied by an audio tour, hosted by alumna Libbi Gorr, telling a short story about the research and the academics behind it. The installations also invited the public to explore more about the research on Pursuit, the University’s digital storytelling platform.

The Made Possible by Melbourne CBD exhibition is now roaming Australia, featuring at key events, including the recent launch of TEDxMelbourne.
